CAT S60 - smartphone with thermal imager, old but not useless!

CAT S60 


A new original smartphone in a branded box is nice, but I bought my CAT S60 used from a builder ;)


My smartphone has been in many places and apparently fell more than a dozen times, it is clear that CAT produce strong devices, but the protection of the corpus should not forget to buy a case or protective glass on the display, good thing Aliexpress still works.

My smartphone is badly worn out by life, but was also bought purely for the sake of a thermal imager (FLIR) for reviews and home.


APPS


After a complete reset of all data, there are still apps like this left on the phone: Android Pay, AntiVirus, App Toolbox, Calculator, Calendar, Camera, Catphones, Chrome, Clock, Contacts, Downloads, Driver, File Commander, FM Radio, Gmail, Google, Hangouts, Hike, Internet, Keep, Location Alert, Maps, MaxxAudio, Messaging, Mobile Assistant, MyFLIR, OfficeSuite, Phone, Photos, Play Movies, Play Music, Play Store, Settings, Speaker Dry, YouTube, Zello and other hidden system apps. 153 stock apps I backed up to a zip archive

    I manually downloaded the APK and updated the 2 apps MyFLIR and Android System Webview.


Of the interesting apps, I liked a few of them. 
  • WAVES MaxxAudio - small sound presets for different life situations.
  • Hike - Shows weather, your coordinates, flashlight on and SOS mode.
  • MyFLIR - application for the operation of the built-in heat sensor in the CAT S60.
  • Speaker Dry - used to clean the built-in speakers with specific sounds and vibration, can be used to dry after water.
I put these apps on Google drive.

Most of the applications are useless for me and will be further disabled via the ADB AppControl program from the PC. CAT S60 I need purely for the sake of the built-in thermal imager, so I will disable all unnecessary software. 

After rebooting we have occupied RAM (System ~730 MB, Apps ~ 93 MB, Free 2.0 GB) in running services.

Google apps take up the bulk of the RAM, it's time to clean them up too, I won't be using them on CAT S60 anyway.

Before that it is desirable to install a third-party launcher instead of stock, otherwise the smartphone may simply refuse to boot into the system, and better for safety backup all the necessary data from the smartphone, if something wrong will be deleted and get to the eternal download will need to be on a turned off smartphone press simultaneously two buttons lock + volume up and getting into the recavery select Wipe data / factory reset and Wipe cache, after which all data will be deleted and applications will be restored. 

MEMORY CARD

The smartphone may not work with some memory cards, it is better to buy branded flash drives.
I have several memory cards from China and they all started up fine on the CAT S60.
Speed specifications of the specified memory cards in the smartphone through the android A1 SD Bench app, here also indicates the speeds of internal memory and RAM.
